Learn to Dive with Ultimate Scuba Adventures!

The PADI Open Water Diver Course is divided into 3 phases: 
1. Knowledge Development - develop your familiarity with basic diving principles and procedures in our classroom
2. Confined Water Dives - practice and learn the basic scuba skills in a confined water environment
3. Open Water Dives - put everything together and fully experience the underwater adventure in an open water environment

The PADI Open Water Diver Course is completed over two full weekends at Ultimate Scuba Adventures.  The first weekend of the Open Water Diver Course will include the Knowledge Development and Confined Water portions mentioned above.  The Knowledge Development portion will involve reading the five chapters in the PADI Open Water Diver Manual and completing the corresponding knowledge reviews before beginning the classroom work.  In the classroom, we will check the knowledge reviews and any other important information, including questions you may have.  After each chapter, you will take a short quiz to make sure you have the key concepts and ideas.  The Knowledge Review portion culminates with a final exam.  Confined water training sessions are conducted over two days in a pool.  This is a chance for you to learn and practice scuba skills with your instructor to ensure safe diving practices moving forward in your diving adventure.  You will learn everything from hand signals to mask skills to self-help skills in order to make your diving experience safe and fun.

This first weekend of the course, the Knowledge Development and Confined Water Dives, costs $350.00.  This cost includes:

• Academic materials including the PADI Open Water Diver Manual and Video

• Use of tanks, regulators, buoyancy control devices, weights, and weight belts

• Pool instruction

It does not include:

• Mask, fins, booties, snorkel (all items are available in our store)

The second weekend of the course is devoted to your Open Water Check Out Dives.  This weekend will take place over two days at Dutch Springs, a freshwater lake in Bethlehem, PA.  You can either choose to camp overnight or travel to and from Dutch Springs each day.  The weekend will consist of four check-out dives, completing your Open Water Diver Course, with the option of a fifth dive, beginning your diving adventure with a fun dive!  The check-out dives will include showing the instructor your ability to safely complete the skills practiced in the confined water pool environment.  After completing the skills on each dive, you will have some time to explore the dive site, and practice skills such as proper buoyancy and staying with your dive buddy.

This second weekend of the course, the Open Water Check Outs, costs $300.00.  This cost includes:

• Use of tanks, regulators, buoyancy control devices, weights, and weight belts

• Professional instruction and evaluation

• PADI Open Water Diver Certification Card

It does not include:

• Entry passes, camping, or air fill fees for the weekend at Dutch Springs

• You may begin the PADI Open Water Diver program at the age of 10.  

• You also have the option to complete the Knowledge Development section online at your own pace with PADI eLearning.

Orientation
Our course begins with an "orientation" which includes:​

• This and other information about the course

• Picking up crew pack, including Open Water Diver manual and DVD

• Registration (parents of minors should attend to sign waivers)

• Trying on rental gear and learning about proper fit

• Required equipment (mask, snorkel, fins, booties & weight belt) will be on sale for purchase

 

VIP Training
Ultimate Scuba offers personalized one on one training for the individual who requires special attention, has different schedules, or isn't comfortable with crowds. The cost is $700.00 for the classroom and confined water portion of the course, and also $700.00 for an individualized check-out weekend.
