The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course
 

This course is a mid-level continuing education course for those who have successfully completed the Open Water Diver certification. The objective is to increase diving enjoyment and skills through supervised activity. You also get the opportunity to learn more about different types of diving.  The course is made up of 5 Open Water dives.  2 of these dives are mandatory (deep and navigation) while the other 3 are your choice at the discretion of the instructor and any other divers in the course.  Some popular options are night, wreck, search and recovery, peak performance buoyancy, and fish ID.

 

The course will involve reading the 5 required chapters in PADI's "Adventures in Diving" handbook and completing the knowledge review sections at the end of each chapter before the weekend of the course.  Before completing each dive, your instructor will review the knowledge review with you and give a dive briefing to prepare you for the skills necessary on the dive.
 

Course Costs:  $350.00 which includes:

Academic materials including the PADI Adventures in Diving Manual

Use of tanks, regulators, buoyancy control devices, weights, and weightbelts

Not included in the course costs:  Entry passes, camping, air fills, and night diving fees for the weekend at Dutch Springs

Equipment

Students should have their own mask, snorkel, fins, and booties.

Students participating in the night dive should have a primary light which can be purchased or rented at the store.

Upon completion of the course:   
You will have a growing knowledge of various types of diving, an increased skill set in diving, and more awareness of your surroundings while diving.  This will then open you up to continuing education and various specialty diving courses.
